Vinification : The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
comes from the selection of the best grapes of a single vineyard
planted in 1974. With a South-east exposure and the highest altitude; 500m a.s.l.
The grapes’ high quality is guaranteed and enhanced by careful attention
selection during the dedicated period.
After about 10
days of alcoholic fermentation, in stainless steel tanks at 28°
and about 30 days of maceration on the skins, all grapes undergo
racking and fermentation
process. The wine is bottled in a mix of French oak containers (barriques, barrels and tonneaux),
where it will remain to refine for about 21 months. At the end of this period, the wine is ready to be put in bottles and left to refine
for at least another 10/12 months before being sold.
In 2014, the Grand Selection takes the name “Sor Pietro”, in memory of the founding grandfather.
Organoleptic characteristics: Intense ruby red wine. On the nose, full and intense
persistent, with hints of red berry fruit, typical of Sangiovese. The full and persistent taste, with notes
spicy is due to the grape variety and the woods used. Elegant, complex, full-bodied, enveloping and balanced wine
supported by an excellent tannic structure.
Alcohol content: 14% by volume
Producer’s advice: Wine suitable for important and elaborate dishes, based on red meat and aged cheeses ,. Excellent wine also to be tasted solo to better appreciate the aroma
